Year 6 Residential Trip – Autumn 2027

Following our Year 5 parents and pupil meeting on Wednesday 14th October at 2:30pm regarding the Year 6 Enrichment Week planned for autumn 2027, we would like to hear your feedback on the options outlined below.

Please find a link to the presentation which was shared in the meeting here.

As mentioned in this meeting, it is our preferred option to continue with our 4-night residential as this is such a wonderful way to develop resilience, build self-esteem and grow skills of collaboration and teamwork.  However, with an increasing number of children not accessing this provision we have taken this opportunity before confirming our booking with PGL for September 2027 to consider other options.

Please answer the few questions using the link to the form here, as this will help us come to an informed decision. Information about this will be sent out before the October half term. The closing date for this for will be Wednesday 21st October 2026.

Option 1:

A four night residential at PGL Osmington Bay in Dorset. This is the option that has been on offer in previous years at Emmbrook Junior School. We have been in contact with PGL to find the best value week in the autumn term and provisionally booked this. The week would run from Monday 20th September 2027 to Friday 24th September 2027 and include a range of adventurous activities including water sports. The cost of this would be approximately £460 per child.

Option 2:

The same as above but for a two night/ three day option. The children would have the same types of activities offered to them. The dates for this would be either Wednesday 15th September 2027 to Friday 17th September 2027 at a cost of approximately £334 or Monday 20th September 2027 to Wednesday 22nd September 2027 at a cost of approximately £293.

Option 3:

An alternative option would be to offer a more local residential week at Oakwood Outdoor. This would offer a similar package of adventurous activities for either a two night or a four night stay. This would provide children with the opportunity to attend for day time activities only if preferred. The cost of this would be approximately £224 for two nights or £398 for four nights.
