School Information

(Updated 8 June 2021)

Dear Parents & Carers,

We hope you enjoyed the weather over the half-term break and managed to stay safe while doing so.

At this point, it’s not clear if we will be able to proceed to the next stage of the Governments restrictions road map, many of our planned events and activities are dependent upon decision that will be made by the government over the next few days so we will do our best to keep you informed of any changes. The planned secondary transfer day for Y6 children has already been postponed to the 7th of July and the PTA are considering options for the Summer BBQ on the 3rd of July.

As we were unable to have Class exhibitions this term we have put together some short presentations that will give you a glimpse of what the children have been up to. You should find the links to these on our homepage and hope you enjoy seeing some of the fantastic work the children have been doing. I’d like to thank the staff for taking the time to put these together for you.

Message from Wokingham Borough Council:

Surge Testing to Contain the Covid-19 Variant

Extensive surveillance of Covid-19 has identified a small number of cases of the Covid-19 Delta variant that was first found in India in Wokingham Borough, that cannot be traced back to international travel.

As such, surge testing for all residents over the age of 12 who have no Covid-19 symptoms will be deployed in the following council wards between Monday 07 June and Monday 21 June:

  • Bulmershe and Whitegates
  • Evendons
  • Norreys
  • Wescott

This will enable us to identify any community spread of the new variant and restrict further transmission. All cases are now self-isolating and we have conducted robust contact tracing to identify their contacts and ask them to self-isolate.

Thanks – WBC

Please remain vigilant for the symptoms of Covid-19 and if in doubt please arrange for a test at a local test centre.

The main symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If your child has any of the main symptoms of COVID-19:

  1. Get a PCR test (test that is sent to a lab) to check if they have COVID-19 as soon as possible
  2. You, your child and anyone else you live with should stay at home and not have visitors until you get the test result – only leave your home to have the test.

Anyone in your childcare or support bubble should also stay at home if your child has been in close contact with them since their symptoms started or during the 48 hours before they started.

Our staff continue to test twice weekly and the remainder of our controls remain in place.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Thanks – The EJS Team
