Emmbrook Junior School children have an excellent reputation for looking smart in their uniform. We are proud of our children and hope that you will help us maintain this high standard as it is important that your child is dressed appropriately and smartly at all times.

We strongly recommend that all clothing and kit is clearly labelled with your child’s name. Name labels can be purchased via https://www.mynametags.com/affiliate?id=18970, however it is not a requirement that you use this supplier or any other but we do suggest that everything is clearly labelled.

Our pupils may choose to wear:

  • Grey or black trousers / knee-length shorts / knee-length skirt / pinafore- dress, culottes
  • Knee-length summer green & white checked dress
  • White polo shirt / blouse / short/long-sleeved shirt with school tie
  • Dark green V-necked jumper / sweatshirt / cardigan (school logo preferred)
  • Black or white socks
  • Dark green, grey or black tights
  • Sensible black shoes which provide a good grip and fasten securely

We do not allow our pupils to wear:

  • Trainer socks
  • Open toed sandals
  • Boots
  • Trainers for anything other than outdoor activities

Hair:

The Halo Code

Our school champions the right of staff and students to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black staff and students’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance.

We welcome Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps.

At this school, we recognise and celebrate our staff and students’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on anyone’s ability to succeed.
