Bracknell Parent Carer Forum was set up to make sure the views and concerns of families living with SEND are heard by those who plan and manage SEND in Bracknell Forest. We gather their views and use them when working in co-production with the Local Authority and Frimley ICB. The aim is to make sure that SEND services meet the needs of all SEND children and young people to achieve the best possible futures for all families living with SEND.

Are you interested in becoming a trustee?
Bracknell Parent Carer Forum (PCF) is recruiting trustees to start the journey towards becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Being a trustee is a valuable voluntary role, but it does involve responsibilities.
Our trustees will play a vital role in making sure that Bracknell PCF achieves its core purpose. They will
– oversee the overall management and administration of the charity
– ensure Bracknell PCF has a clear strategy
– ensure our work and goals are in line with our vision
– support and challenge the executive team to enable Bracknell PCF to grow and thrive
– work together to achieve the best possible futures for all Bracknell Forest families living with SEND.
Trustees have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals. We are currently looking for all members of the Board of Trustees, including a chair and vice-chair.
We are looking for those who have knowledge of the issues affecting families living with SEND. If not, we are looking for people with expertise in HR, finance, grant bidding or strategic planning. We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking of our organisation to move it forwards.
A project to increase SEND children and young people’s accessibility to participating in physical activity in various settings in the community – local sports clubs, dance, holiday clubs, schools and many more! In this session we will be joined by:
- Naomi Bonthrone (SEND participation officer, BFC). She will set out the context in Bracknell Forest, presenting statistics and what is available for SEND children and young people.
- Emma Marshall (dance and sports coach) who has been teaching in the local community for over a decade. She has developed a course for schools and external providers which offers insight into how we create accessibility to the PE curriculum and extra curricular activity by understanding the needs and making reasonable adjustments for SEND young people. https://desportsprovision.co.uk/

We welcome you to this session to gather feedback on what works/doesn’t work in your experience. We will explore barriers to accessing physical activity both in and out of school.
