The My Journey Team are running a Dr Bike at Emmbrook Junior School on Thursday February 2nd Feb.
Emmbrook Junior is one of ten My Journey Wokingham air quality schools we are working with on reducing air pollution around the school and promoting the benefits of active travel to and from school.
During a Dr Bike session, a trained mechanic performs a basic bike check to make sure children’s bikes are safe to ride on the road. Bikes must be booked in advance and our mechanic can check a maximum of 30 bikes during the session. All bikes booked in are checked for minor faults and recommendations are made for parents.
Please look out for faulty bike form which will be used to make any further recommendation on your child’s bike, this will be placed on your child’s bike at the end of the session, if required.
The Dr Bikes at the air quality schools are funded through our DEFRA air quality grant. Prioritisation is given to children in Year 5 and Year 6’s before they participate in Bikeability training with Avanti Cycling, our cycle training provider, to ensure the bikes, of the children taking part, are roadworthy.
